Kineviz 3.28.0 Release Notes

Release Date: September 15, 2026

Kineviz and Kineviz Desktop include enhancements for geometric layout, import and mapping of multiple CSV or Excel files, Agent UI improvement, added API capability, and bug fixes.

In a Kineviz Online or Kineviz Desktop project, to access release notes, click the Kineviz logo at the bottom left, choose About, then click on the release tag.

Usability Enhancements

  • A floating Canvas picture-in-picture panel provides a dockable overview of the data on the canvas, which updates as you work on the canvas. It includes the Show canvas (shift + Z) toggle that dismisses all panels for a peek at the full canvas. (GXR-4625)

  • The Layout panel is updated to display its features in a more compact and readable form. (GXR-4641)

  • The Mapping Editor is redesigned to:

    • Display the column headings in one or more source CSV or Excel files, and their current mapping to categories and properties. (GXR-4629)

    • Auto Map CSV or Excel files, either by reading table shape directly, or through an AI agent analysis based on a text prompt. (GXR-4628)

  • Agent

    • Creating a project from a text prompt is added to the Projects home page. (GXR-4610)

    • The Agent panel can be displayed either as a vertically split panel that lists chat (aka thread) history, or as horizontally arranged tabs that focus more on the current thread. (GXR_4627)

    • A more compact conversation-first layout is displayed at small panel heights. (GXR_4575)

    • A Copy thread as markdown item is added to the chat menu. (GXR_3992)

    • The Agent file dropzone accepts imported content with image (.jpeg, .png, .gif, and .webp), file (.csv, .xlsx, .json, .zip, .graphxr, .gexf, .kml, .graphml, .opml, .mm, .smmx, .kuzu, .mgtx, .kmz), and .pdf file types. (GXR_4601)

  • Kineviz Marketplace is deployed as a central repository for extensions and sandboxes. (GXR-4617)

  • The Project > Files API now performs checks for project ownership, permissions, and sharing status. (GXR-4365)

  • Overlapped docked panels are no longer seen in user-designed workspaces. (GXR-4626)

Extensions 3.28.0

Kineviz extensions provided by default (shown on the Project > Extensions tab) let you create Grove workbooks for reproducible workflows, and manage and edit imported files. Extensions for custom solutions may also be available.
