Install Kineviz Desktop

Download and Launch Kineviz Desktop

Go to the Kineviz website and click Download Kineviz Desktop.

Instructions to download the disk image that matches your operating system appear automatically. You can choose a different file if necessary.

  1. Select the appropriate .dmg file.

    Most Windows PCs use the x64 build. Only choose the arm64 build if your device uses an ARM processor (e.g., Snapdragon-based PCs).
  2. Double-click the downloaded Kineviz-Desktop-Setup-[Version]-win-x64.exe (or the -win-arm64.exe build for ARM-based PCs).

  3. Follow the prompts to complete the installation (you can choose the install location and whether to create a desktop shortcut).

  4. Once installed, launch Kineviz Desktop from the Start menu or the desktop icon.

    If Windows SmartScreen shows a warning, click "More info" → "Run anyway".

  1. Select the appropriate .dmg file.

    To check your Mac’s chip: click the menu in the top-left corner → About This Mac, and look at the Chip / Processor information. Choose the arm64 build for Apple M-series chips, or the x64 build for Intel processors.
  2. Double-click the downloaded .dmg file.

  3. In the window that appears, drag the Kineviz Desktop icon into the "Applications" folder.

  4. Open Kineviz Desktop from Launchpad or the Applications folder.

    If, on first launch, you see cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, find the related prompt and click Open Anyway; or right-click the icon in Applications → Open.

Sign In to your Free Account and Open Kineviz Desktop

To use the AI Agent managed through Kineviz, you need an Online connection to Kineviz Cloud. The account you create is automatically set up as a free subscription with a daily 5-hour, and weekly limited budget.

You can choose to remain Offline if desired. Kineviz Desktop runs locally, which is suitable for offline scenarios, working with local files, and performance-intensive workloads.

To sign in and open Kineviz Desktop:

  1. In the login dialog, click Sign in with Kineviz Cloud.

  2. Create a Kineviz account and password as prompted.

  3. If you are signing in to an existing Desktop account, choose Update Now to automatically replace the existing version with the latest one.

    When a new version of Kineviz Desktop is available, Update Now appears on the Login, Projects, and individual project screens.
  4. Click Sign in with Kineviz Cloud, and click Open Kineviz Desktop.app

    The Kineviz Desktop Projects screen opens. Kineviz Desktop is nearly identical to the browser version of GraphXR. So if you are already familiar with GraphXR, you can get started right away.

Review and Upgrade Your Account

You can monitor your account usage directly in Kineviz Desktop. If you need more intensive Agent engagement it’s easy to upgrade to a paid Pro subscription.

Review your Cloud usage

A free Kineviz Desktop subscription provides Agent access limited to a rolling 5-hour session and weekly budget.

To review your current plan:

  • In the desktop Projects screen, go to the user menu at the top right, select Settings and click Cloud. You can:

    • Review your subscription plan and track current usage.

    • Set a privacy opt-out.

    • Click Manage Account to review subscription, billing, and account details on the Kineviz Cloud website.

Upgrade to Pro through Kineviz Cloud

The Kineviz Cloud website tracks your current subscription and privacy settings and a list of your current cloud agents. It is also where you can upgrade to a monthly paid Pro subscription, giving you 5 times the usage of the free tier.

You can cancel a subscription at any time, according to current terms of service.

To upgrade to Desktop Pro:

  1. In the desktop Projects screen, go to the user menu at the top right, select Settings and click Cloud.

  2. Click Manage Account.

  3. In the Kineviz Cloud Agent Admin dialog, click Sign In.
