Save Graph Views To save the visible and hidden data on the project canvas (including the visible 3D layout) you can: Save a View, a named .graphxr file uploaded to the server that persists in the project until you delete it, and is available to any user of a shared project. Save one or more Snapshot views using the Snapshots pane. These views are saved locally in the project, and persist until you exit the project. To save a set of snapshots, you must download the snapshot archive before you exit the project. You can also go to the Projects > Data Store subpanel to add data in the current view to a connected internal graph database. Save a View At any time, you can save the view on the canvas to the server, either by updating the current view or creating a new view. Use the View dropdown menu at the top center of the canvas to Save the current view (including visible and any hidden data), either to the current view, or to a new one. An asterisk appears next to a current view name when the view on the server differs from the one on the canvas. Manually moving nodes and edges, applying a new layout, or adding, editing, or deleting nodes, edges, or properties counts as a change. Moving the entire graph or shifting the canvas viewpoint (i.e. with Pan, Zoom, Rotate, Center To, or Fly Out) does not. All data on the canvas is deleted when you leave the project or log out. You should save any view that you may want to revisit, such as a complex layout or transformed graph. In the View menu you can also: Select New to clear the graph and set the canvas as an empty Unsaved View, optionally saving the current view in the process. This action is only available on the Views menu. Select and load a view by name either from a list of recent views sorted by the date last modified, or all views sorted alphabetically. Select Share to share the current view. The Project > Views subpanel also includes a Save or Save As button for saving the current view, as well as the ability to load a view to the canvas or share a view. Save the current view To save the current view: In the view dropdown menu select either Save to save the view with its current name or Save As to save to a new named view. If you choose Save As enter a descriptive name in the dialog and click Save. The new view appears on the view menu and in the Views subpanel. Save and create a new empty view When you want to import different data to the canvas (for example, via a new database query or an imported file), you can use New on the view menu to save the current view, then clear the graph and create a new empty Unsaved View in one step. To save the current view and create a new empty view: Open the View dropdown menu. Select New. An Unsaved Changes dialog asks you to choose to Save the current view, Save As a new view, Don’t Save or Cancel. If you choose Save As, enter a descriptive name and click Save. The canvas is cleared and the current view name changes to Unsaved View. Save Snapshots Snapshots let you save a set of up to ten (10) views in memory, re-load any one of them at any time. You can save and re-load a collection of views as a .graphxrsnapshot archive at any time. Unlike saved project views, snapshots cannot be shared with other project users. However, they are very useful for saving views of the graph at key points you may want to re-visit as you explore and transform the graph. The Snapshots pane floats conveniently in the graph space. You can move it anywhere in the space, and take a snapshot at any time. Icons on the Snapshots title bar let you create snapshots and download the archive without expanding the pane. The expanded Snapshots window displays thumbnail previews of each snapshot. Each snapshot includes a number, thumbnail, timestamp, and a Note field where you can add descriptive text. With one or more snapshots saved, you can: Click Create Snapshot (or the plus (+) icon in the title bar) to add to your set. Click Save Snapshots (or the download icon on the title bar) to download the set as a snapshot archive. Click a snapshot Trash can icon to delete the snapshot. Click a snapshot Cloud icon to load the snapshot. Click in the Note field to edit a snapshot description. When you exit the project or log out, snapshots are deleted. In addition, when you import a snapshot archive to your project, it replaces the current set of snapshots. Before exiting the project canvas or importing another snapshot archive, use Save Snapshots or the download icon on the title bar to export the current snapshot archive to your local system. *To save snapshots: Open the Project > Settings subpanel, and the Advanced Settings dropdown. Click the Show Snapshots checkbox to display the Snapshots title bar on the canvas. Click the dropdown arrow at the left to open the Snapshots pane, and click Create Snapshot, or click the plus (+) icon in the title bar to create a snapshot without opening the pane. A thumbnail of the current view is added to the top of the Snapshot list, and a Note shows a date-time timestamp for the snapshot view. To save your snapshots, before you exit the project you must click Save Snapshots (or the download icon on the Snapshots title bar) to download the set of views as a .graphxrsnapshots archive.
