The Layout panel provides flexible layout options for displaying data in the graph space. These layouts, as well as GraphXR's geospatial mapping function, rely on the ability to fix, or Pin nodes in 3D space in various specific ways, and to Release the pinned nodes when desired.

By enabling you to select, organize and separate data in the graph space, layouts are powerful aids for exploration, analysis, as well as creating and sharing information-rich visualization of high-dimensional data.

The options provided in the Layout panel are:

  • Force. This is GraphXR’s default layout. It renders nodes and edges in the graph space using a complex physics simulation that attempts to keep individual nodes and edges close enough, while reducing the number of crossing lines or hidden entities.

  • Parametric. This layout lets you create scatter plots based on parameter values.

  • Geometric. These layouts let you arrange any selected nodes in a Line, Grid, Circle, Spiral, or Cube. Each selection of nodes can be individually ordered, scaled, and placed in the project space.

  • Tree. This layout lets you arrange selected nodes in a hierarchical tree structure.

A green Reset flag appears next to the Layout menu icon when you apply a new layout and then close the Layout panel. You can click this Reset flag to revert to the view you started with.
